Hartlepool Waterfront Redevelopment

The vision is to create a landmark "dawn to dusk" destination on the Hartlepool Waterfront with a mix of civic, cultural, leisure and visitor attractions to complement the restaurants, cafes, bars and shops within the wider Hartlepool Marina area. Plans include a water activity hub, an outdoor events space, a large scale hi-tech visitor attraction and a 4* hotel with conferencing and banqueting facilities, as well as the expansion of the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool.

  • The former Jacksons Landing retail outlet building has been demolished.
  • A concept master-plan has been adopted to create a framework for the re-development of the site.
  • The regeneration of the Hartlepool Waterfront site will be kick started with a series of initial development projects. A water activity centre and public realm works will be delivered to create grassed areas, a sculpture trail, boundary seating and new LED lighting which will provide a statement of intent for the future transformation of the site. The Council has approved £1.5m for this first phase of works.

Next Steps

  • Funding has been secured from the Tees Valley Combined Authority to undertake further design and feasibility work on the next phases of development.
